Creative Ways to Document Your Time Abroad

1.) Keep a paper journal

Keeping a personal journal of your travels allows you to write anything and everything without holding back. The more details the better! Even if you think writing down what you had for breakfast that morning is pointless...I promise, it's not! Years from now when you look at your journal, a simple detail can bring back so many wonderful memories!

2.) Use phone notes

Using your phone notes is perfect for when you're on the go and don't have time to write in your paper journal. It is smart to look up things you would like to see for the day and write them in your phone notes.

3.) Start a blog

Keeping a blog is a fun and creative way to document your adventures! Whether you want your blog to be public or private, you have the freedom to customize to your liking! Blogs allow you to not only write about your experiences, but also document them with photos!

4.) Start a Vlog

If writing and photography aren't your preferred way to communicate your stories, starting a vlog is a fantastic alternative. You don't need fancy equipment - the video camera on your phone will do the trick and you can use simple, free programs like iMovie or Windows Movie Maker for basic editing. YouTube and Vimeo are the most popular platforms for posting and building your audience.

5.) Social Media

Whether it's Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter social media is a great way to share your adventures with your family and friends!

6.) Collect Post Cards or a Nickknack from each place you visit

Buy postcards or a knickknack from each place you visit and (if postcards) writing a highlight or two from the trip! Sending post cards to your family--they'll collect them, and then you can look back at them years later.
